With the carry-over troops I just rushed the castle and reached Roland in 13 days.
With the crown I had to build army and economics first, reached the castle in 36 days. But the crown mission was faster, I got it in a month or so, while the in gauntlet mission I waited until the last week to get the most troops, maybe it was overkill though.
