I'm about to play SaGa Frontier for the first time, and I've never played a SaGa game before. What character is best for a first-timer, and what should I keep in mind when approaching it?

Is the rom hack still being worked on?

This game gave me such feels as a kid.

With news that a sequel is coming to the Vita, this got me thinking: what other RPG's have a similar "choose one character of many" and open worldness?

Bonus points if said game is playable on modern consoles or PC.

Is this good?

Hello /vr/. I am in the process of trying to rip the music from Saga Frontier on the PS1. The audio files are in the formats of .ALL and .SND. The image file itself is a ccd/img/sub. Does anybody here have experience working with these types of files and if so, how do I extract them and get them into a usable format? I figured you bros would be more help than /g/ or /mu/. Also general /vr/ music thread.

Man, out of the lists posted so far nobody has posted my favorites but, then again, they're not really that great.

Saga Frontier and Saga Frontier 2. Both use unique skill and leveling systems.

Also throwing in Vanguard Bandits if you need another mech based SRPG like Front Mission
