Never been one for Mortal Kombat, but if I remember correctly, that runs at an odd refresh rate, doesn't it(something like 54hz?) The Wii won't be able to deal with that terribly well.

And, for Metal Slug, your going to run into problems with most of them on a matter of game size. I believe 1 and 2 work, but just about everything else is too large for the Wii's memory to handle. You can get X via WiiWare, but there are changes and a bit of slowdown.

Personally, I've resorted to a modified version of the Anthology on the PS2 for my Metal Slug fix.

The individual emulators I named are relatively simple to setup for outputting the proper resolution for a given game; Usually just comes down to making sure it's set to original/doublestrike/etc depending on the one in question.
RA leaves just about everything up to you to choose, which can lead to weird scaling if you don't change it for different games; This is mainly an issue with systems that use a lot of different resolutions based on the game, such as the SNES; Stuff that only tends to run at a single resolution is obviously much easier.
