>What 5 color 160×144 pixel games are you playing in current year? Does it hold up today?
Well, I've only completed 5 of all GB/GBC titles I've played, and only for 2 franchises, Spider-Man and Yu-Gi-Oh! I know that's quite random, anyways those are the ones I can talk about:

1. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters
One of the most archaic video games I've ever played, the ammount of RNG involved, rules that are so basic it can feel downright shallow, and 100 wins requirements to get the cards everyone wants... still, I like it, the simplicity has some charm to it, the art is neat and it's the closest we'll get to a Duelist Kingdom RPG.

2. Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories
A lot better in both gameplay and artwork, with monsters having effects, though the rules differ from the OCG/TCG I still like them, and it's nice seeing some Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories characters, almost as if this is the portable port, it's nice, just wish the story was more concise, there's practically none here.

3. The Amazing Spider-Man
I don't think this gets enough credit, of course the control isn't perfect, but you get used to it very quickly and, once you do, you find something that, at the time it was released, did everything people wanted, a video game where you play as Spider-Man, beat up bad guys, do some platforming and use his web, it's fine.

4. Spider-Man
A lot of interesting ideas were attempted, RPG mechanics with a lite MetroidVania progression... anyways, the control is worse than the Game Boy one, which came out a decade earlier, and the flying enemies are annoying, especially in the sewers. Not bad, but I don't go back to it, even with its excellent atmosphere.

5. Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six
Everything a sequel should be, they took the original, polished it up, made everything better, especially the controls, which are quite satisfying here. We've lost all RPG and MetroidVania elements, but that's fine, as long as the controls and level design are good, which they are here.

I'll admit, most of the things I've completed this year were replays of what I had already completed before, and because of that I can't even write it down, because I don't really remember what I beat. One of the things about retro which is so fun to me is that you take so long to master something, and at times it feels impossible, that classic difficulty, but once you finally beat it it's like everything just clicks and you can beat it again whenever you're in the mood, which is something I often do, since I can play something from start to finish in half an hour, still, because of that it feels less eventful when you beat it. I beat Sonic The Hedgehog (Game Gear) a couple of days ago, almost got a 1CC on it for the first time, but blew it on Sky Base Zone Act 1.

When it comes to new ones, I managed to beat a couple:

1. Donald Duck no Mahou no Boushi (Super Famicom) ... I wouldn't call this the best Donald Duck has to offer, I personally prefer Quack Attack/Goin' Quackers and especially QuackShot, but this doesn't mean this isn't a stellar title, it looks amazing, sounds amazing, has so much personality and captures the Disney atmosphere perfectly, a comfortable time, so I loved it.

2. The Amazing Spider-Man (Game Boy) ... A Rare title, literally, this is before their fame on the SNES and N64, but it shows they already had something going for them. I don't think this is too good, but it's fine, and for the hardware this is about what I'd expect from Spider-Man, better than that even, and it's better than its sequels, which I couldn't be bothered to beat.

3. Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin (Master System/Game Gear)
I played both versions and they were identical, except for the smaller resolution on the Game Gear. I don't think it's awful, but it's too unforgiving to be memorable, I didn't manage to beat it on Nightmare, the hardest difficulty, and even the difficulties I beat took a while, with the single life you get being the main issue. It controls fine though.

can't be bothered to take a picture of it right now but this is pretty much how i hold it, very "relaxed", definitely not tightly gripping the device
