It's time for me to bitch about this again.
>go to Best Buy
>they have a demo kiosk of Mario Party 3
>play it, amazed and excited that the game introduced two brand new characters that I had never seen before
>huge fan of Mario Party 2 which I already owned, ask my mom if I can have the Mario Party 3 too
>after a few weeks finally convince her
>go to Gamestop, my mom and I asking the cashier if they have any copies of Mario Party 3
>he says yes and sells me pic related, go home excited to play my new game
>turn it on, confused because I dont see Waluigi or Daisy anywhere
>figured I'd have to unlock them since the game is keeping track of my stars and coins earned at the end of every board
>thus the coping begins and I spend months in denial about having the wrong game, trying my best to unlock the Waluigi and Daisy. The guy who sold me the game works at a video game store, he couldn't possibly make a mistake
>control sticks burn out at a rapid pace because of rotating spam minigames, and my N64 becomes almost completely unusable because my controllers are too fucked to control any video game character at full analog speed
Fuck Nintendo for making the cover for Mario Party 1 have a 3 on it, fuck the useless cashier at Gamestop who couldnt do his job right and bother to check if it was even the right game, and fuck me for being a naive little kid who couldnt comprehend someone making a mistake doing their job.

ITT: misleading boxart

When Mario Party 3 came out I remember playing it at a demo kiosk at Best Buy. I got excited as fuck seeing Waluigi and Daisy in the game because as far as knew they were new characters (I never played mario tennis, and i was too stupid to realize Daisy was in Super Mario Land).
When I went to gamestop and asked for Mario Party 3 the guy behind the counter handed me this game instead. Thus I spent the next few months in denial about having the wrong game, convincing myself that if I kept playing I'd unlock Waluigi and Daisy. Eventually I realized that the cashier wasnt an expert on video games and made a mistake, and I'm still coping and seething about it all these years later. Fuck Nintendo for making the boxart with a number 3 block next to the title.

Any anons have similar stories because of bad boxart?

Not a sprite, but I used to think that this was Mario Party 3 because the die says 3 next to the title.

Because of the die, I thought this was the cover for Mario Party 3.
