yes, the service mode should let you center the image.

most Genesis/Mega Drive games look fine in 16:9 (and I'm sure TG16/PCE would also look fine)

but as as far as native 240p games in widescreen the only one that comes to mind is street fighter 3: 2nd impact

most new games are also made with widescreen in mind. ps3/360 and beyond.

you could also force most pc games to output in 16:9
