I'm somewhat looking forward to it. Not jumping out of my pants-excited but there could be some cool new info about Ion Fury : Aftershock and other throwback fps games.

>Nuns+Guns
Well if I ever get off my ass to pursue a wild west TC for GZDoom I'll be sure to include a big tiddy gun-slinging nun as well with stockings and garter belt under the habits of course .

My dream would be that in each episode you'd be pursuing a different bad guy or a girl and between the episodes you would come back to the town to talk to NPCs, buy / improve gear etc, maybe see that rogue cowgirl boss you captured swinging by her neck etc.

I'm thinking of like a town that acts as a Quake style central hub with teleports (disguised as doors, town entrances / exits / wagons ) that take you to linear episodes that progress from map to map like E1M1 / E1M2 / E1M3 etc.

It's just another "bit" in his videos. He doesn't usually overdo it.

I disagree with your view on forums, but I do agree that like or dislike Civvie, there's no reason to get angry about him, he's an entertainer. He's not "damaging the cum-unity" imho.

Is it a bit silly when he spawns self-made "experts" ? Yeah. Is there any lasting harm? Not really, and browsing some comments on his videos I see people giivng these classic shooters a chance and becoming fans. Awesome!

In my personal view he's usually able to really distill what makes a lot of these games "click" even if I disagree with some of his views (like overdoing the fingerwagging at "sexist" stuff).
These days I prefer to watch decino for DOOM etc but I think Civvie's solid entertainment.

Yeah, Ion Fury is a true 'classic' Build Engine game, right down to the sovlful meme / pop culture reference Easter Egg secrets and the absolute amazing effort put into the levels. The feeling of internal believablity (within reason), level of interconnectivity and amount of well done secrets that often feel like a logical part of the level and a real "extra space" is just staggering and unreal.

If I had something to nitpick about it, it would probably be that it kind of lacks proper minibosses / endgame enemies, the fact that you stop getting new weapons at like 25% through the game is also a bit disappointing.

Great game, looking forward to Aftershock!

Yeah, I played through the Second Encounter back in the day and liked it but horde shooting just does not do it for me, but well made, "lived in" FPS games with "combat puzzles" a la Plutonia-likes, other good DOOM wads, Quake 1 and Build FPS are now what's the good shit.

It's a really good game for sure. One of the incredibly few games that do "soulful" easter eggs and secrets, similar to the Build trio's pop culture reference easter eggs with a lot of effort put into a bunch of them.

Not without it's own bad sides though, like the enemy roster could use more variety and specifically more difficult enemies, the game should have more "big cannons" to unlock towards the end half of the game, more varied and more useful support items and while it would be a lot of work, more enemy death animations akin to Blood etc...

The music should imho be more "Verhoeven film", or more aggressive, putting more emphasis on either the oppressive dystopian cyberpunk mood or get blood pumping for the action. As it is, it sounds a lot of time like... something people listen to while doing homework. Not incompetent but tonally a bit off.

Shelly's voicelines could use more variety even though there are a good number of unique voicelines for specific things / points in the game like object interaction for a bit of a gag sometimes.

But, all in all, really good game and looking forward to the expansion Aftershock!

Ion Fury and Aftershock are on an actual classic engine (Build Engine) so they're on-topic, but the sequel to Ion Fury (Phantom Fury) is not a retro fps and is off topic.

God I want the expansion pack to her game to release already. I think almost every level in Ion Fury is golden, although the last stretch with the endless secret lab got a bit old because at that point they were long past introducing new weapons or enemies.

Ion Fury posting should be kosher since it's running on a legit retro engine and everything about the game except the release year is 100% pure classic fps.

For all intents and purposes Ion Fury is the new Duke Nukem 3d.

>>9389531
As much as Duke Nukem 3d kicks ass, there are no classic shooters with as good of a bestiary / weaponry balance as DOOM's to the point where it's downright perfect material for custom levels with extremely approachable pick-up-and-play feel and a tight gameplay loop.

Even if I in general prefer the "lived in" feel of Build Engine games and the lifelike decor.

Anyone know how to get SiN Gold to show up in OBS properly? I wanted to wait for the remaster but LOL, there's no info on when it is coming out.
I can get the game itself play like normal but when I try to record / stream through OBS I just get a black screen.

>it is funny that older shooter gameplay is now considered cooler
I mean it depends, there are different shooter genres and that's fine. The issue back in the late 00s and early-mid 2010s was that literally every shooter wanted to copy the CoD style, often alienating previous fans in the process.

But nowadays the genre has a lot more variety, which also includes the now-more-popular throwback fps style / nods to classic fps games.

>even by most zoomers
If I were you I'd avoid sweeping statements like that if you don't have the data to back it up.

>one type of enemy
I love FEAR and fighting and killing the replica soldiers is really fun, especially with the game's cinematic (in a good way) ragdoll physics and particle effects and the feedback you get from firefights (guns, environment, shots on enemies, enemy movement and chatter) is godly!

But yeah, I would've loved there to be at least ... Ion Fury tier enemy variety ? They have melee guys and mechs so that bumps up the enemy types to three... maybe 4 if you count the ghosts (they suck) .
Also the movement speed of the protagonist is also slow as hell. I don't need him to be DOOMguy fast, but he is really really slow, probably to give a better illusion of the enemies flanking you etc.

>are you ____

No, the Selaco art poster is me, the guy who likes Ion Fury (and Shelly from Ion Fury).

I love Ion Fury but recently I've come to realize that it has a slight problem in the pacing of the game, mainly that stops introducing new enemies / weapons a bit too early. You get the minigun (the final new weapon) at roughly 1/3rd of the game which is cool but it feels like the arsenal lacks some "mainstays" of classic fps weaponry (like the "big gun" , gimmick gun / item etc) or items like Holoduke, Ripper Heart, Life Leech (which is a portable turret in alt form) . They could introduce a flamer maybe, hmm ?

Similarly, there should've been more new enemies being introduced with preferably some that have gimmicks, like the Duke Nukem teleporting aliens, Archviles / Pain Elemental type creatures, and / or in general some new threats or creatures you're excited to see the new death animations of.....

Ideally it'd be like you get to a new level set and you're looking at a new weapon and 2-3 new monsters. Still, it's a great game and I look forward to IF : Aftershock a lot, just thinking that it could be improved on (and I hope the new "arrange" mode is going to be just that) .

Mostly looking forward to the new levels though. Whole new levels to explore, that'll be great.

There's plenty of cyberpunk city to go around. I think right now my main big "gripe" of IF areas is that it would be cool to have distinctly different zones of the city, maybe more countryside, a different locale altogether etc.

Ideally what I'd love in a hypothetical Ion Fury 2 would be Ashes style hubs or places with friendly NPCs, being able to visit a strip club (with female dancers) and / or a gun range, or a safehouse of sorts where from you launch into the big separate mission-"dungeons" .

But that said, I felt like the game was making me fatigued at Heskel's big secret lab. Don't get me wrong, it's a great secret lab "zone", I just thought that I got way more out of something like countryside carnage or the office building / cyberpunk city on fire etc.

But if the preview trailer is any indication we'll get more of the city, motorbike segments (with guns!), some kind of a club, warehouses etc.

I don't know but it's fucking retarded. And I get upsetti spaghetti when people dismiss the distaste over pink blood as "nitpicking".

Hoping it will be the first thing to be modded away.

The "amazing A.I " in FEAR was in no small part a lot of smoke and mirrors and a lot of attention to detail in giving them places to take cover in, and animations interacting with the environment, and level design was a big part of it. Which isn't to say it's not impressive because it gave the game a big boost but what I'm also saying is that there were a lot more factors to FEAR A.I being perceived good than strictly just the A.I itself.

I need more Shelly from Ion Fury in my life. Thankfully apparently soonish there'll be more info on Aftershock (at Gamescom?)

Also, is there any way to make Soldier of Fortune 2 more alt+tab friendly? Apparently it's just one of those games that doesn't work well with alt tabbing.

But yea, she's being done dirty, maybe some talented artists could do something in the run-up to Aftershock, mmm ?
