In your opinion, what's the most aesthetically pleasing retro console? I think the psone is in the top 10.

Any explanation for why my PSX backups sometimes freeze or cause a system refresh on loading screens? I’m using picrel, verbatim discs burned at 24x with ImgBurn, softmodded with freepsxboot

This is the PsOne. The PSX was what everyone called the PlayStation until then. Pee-es-ex.

Daily reminder that Nintendo & Sega both suck dick. PS1 trumped everything after 1995.

I bought a PSOne for cheap but it didn't work when I got it home. The console always goes directly to the memory card/ load disc menu. I popped the lid open and held the micro switch down. The disc will spin for a couple seconds then stop, always booting to the menu. I thought it might be the laser assembly so I pulled one out of a working console and installed that. The laser itself being very new, an NOS laser assembly that only has a couple months of use. No luck wi h the known-good laser assembly either. The console won't play music CDs either. I've heard the "wobble" IC can go bad and should maybe replaced. I have a donor console I can pull components off of but am unsure where to start. I can't really just pull the motherboard as it has some corrosion around the edges. Has anyone had this problem? Any insight would be really great.

They actually made an adapter for the PS3 where you can transfer your saves to and from PS1 and PS2 memory cards. It also allows easy installation of FreeMCboot using a PC. And copying saves onto PC with certain drivers.
