Played this game again after not beating it for probably 20 years. It was my first video game I ever played back in 1986. Holy shit is it still so damn good. Once you get a hand of the controls, which are definitely tricky compared to SMB3 and SMW it's without flaw. I beat it without warping, and it took three tries. *-3 is a bitch. Anyway I ended up beating it on my last life and had maybe 600,000k points, and your points reset on the loop. Is it possible to get over 1m points in the game?

What's /vr/'s opinion on the original Super Mario Bros.?

2D Mario in general is overrated. There were much better platformers during and after it's time. The controls are janky and frustrating, the level design isn't that good, and the visuals weren't that good even for the NES. The only real reason people enjoy 2D Mario is because they grew up with it, simple as that.

I love the impact it had on the market, specially after the crash, and the success it brought to Nintendo, as well as future installments that came later, but why do people praise this as one of the greatest games of all time?

Super Mario Bros. because I'm too use to the physics of the other games, especially jumping off enemies to get to higher places. Everytime I do halfway decent, I kill myself trying to get fancy. Then I just... kinda get bored

I once made it a personal goal to beat super mario bros as fire mario. It wasn't easy because the damn bloopers got me each time, but I eventually did it. What are some other personal goals that you set for a game for fun or for challenge? It doesn't matter how silly or insane it sounds.
