The classic games are nostalgic, fun and all, but I get an actual Bomberman itch I just come back to the fangame: Power Bomberman.
The amount of content is insane, and you can play a (mostly) smooth Online, I just hate when the only room up is the straightforward Full-Power arena with no soft-blocks, fuck man I like the build up towards the climax, starting at the climax every time is boring. Other than that, great game.

For actually playing Battle Mode (either offline or online), I recommend Power Bomberman.

It's a fangame but really well done, it has a Saturn Bomberman style, lots of power-ups, dozens of stages, hundreds of characters to unlock, everything is very customizable so you can iron out anything that doesn't fit your taste.
