The bosses on Mystical Ninja starring Goemon for N64 have this effeminate/androgynous look, and Goemon actually call them "okama", which basically means faggot in japanese.
They changed it to "weirdo" in the english localization.

The framerate isn't pretty bad, it just gets a bit choppy in open areas bt that's very common for most 3D games of those times.
Framerate is ok in castles or any other area that isn't open, which is where most of the action happens.
Controls feel very intuitive to me.
The only problem I could find would be the camera, which yet again, is a common issue with most games from back then, and it isn't even that bad.

MNsG is a great game, but yeah I guess as you said, the old and tried sidescrolling style is easier to pick up and play now. I'd still rank MNsG as one of the best 3D action adventure games of 5th gen though.

Would have loved a game like MNsG in modern consoles, alas.
Then again, they kinda fucked up with that weird PS2 Goemon game.

More like all the N64 haters are 23-25 year olds with serious childhood traumas. Probably abusive parents and not being able to play all the vidya they wanted as kids.

I was an idort back then. I used my Saturn N64 more than my PS1. All dem great multiplayer games on N64, plus the single player games. And of course, discovering japanese gems over the years, like Sin and Punishment makes owning a N64 worth it, especially since emulation for it is awful.
