I miss this thing. It wasn't that fancy, but I used to see it a badge of quality in a game.

Tech-oriented anons, can I get a simple explanation of what the technical approach for this kind of thing was? I imagine they calculated a linear or (or even bezier-curved) interpolation function between two points, got evenly spaced positions along it, and put the sprites in those coordinates, but that sounds super difficult to animate with complex setups
