Speaking of Smash.

Towards the end of my 6th grade year, Melee had been out for a few months & Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine had recently published the issue with an April Fool's Day joke:

>Unlock Sonic and Tails by defeating 20 opponents in Cruel Melee mode.

That kid brought that issue into lunch period one day & swore that he had accomplished the challenge. So me & my best friend spent a few grueling afternoons to test this claim only to end in disappointment.

When we told him it wasn't true, he got really defensive & claimed WE were the liars. I got a hold of the magazine & noticed the date of April 1st, but he still wouldn't admit his bullshit. I called him a "bullshit artist," then he became really offended & resorting to red herrings & name-calling. Eventually he said something personal to me, so I stood-up, ready to punch him out. A teacher had reacted quickly & separated us both from the table to opposite sides of the cafeteria for a few weeks.

>We nearly had a fist-fight over an argument that escalated from a video game.
