What is the preferred way to play Mother / Earthbound Zero?

NES rom or GBA rom?

Is it worth starting with 0, /vr/? My original plan was to play through this, and then move on to Earthbound... I played through about half of zero, but then lost the save file when I transfered all my files to a new computer. Should I start over? Or just start with earthbound?

So...I'm thinking about seriously playing through the mother series.
I've already played quite a bit of the first one (but my save got corrupted, so I need to play about a third of the game over again).
Mother 2 is nice too.
What I want to know is, should I just skip the first one?
I've heard it's not really worth playing through when I could just play the second.
However, I didn't mind playing it before.

I've not beaten this game....but I'm wondering if I should continue. So far, I enjoy the surreal atmosphere of the game. I just got to Magnificant.
I'm not sure exactly where I should be, or where to go though.
Is this game worth playing all the way through?

What does /vr/ think of Earthbound zero?
I just beat it for the first time. I haven't played any of the other Earthbound games, but I really liked it for the campy si-fi vibe and absurd humour.

Haters gonna hate, but my favorite Mother game is still the first one. As long as it has the easy patch.
