Fear not anon, I have some experience doing this kind of thing and whipped you up an example wad:

There's some metroid textures in there too so you can build to the wall textures if you want. Just be sure to press A to align the textures to your starting point as you go, every time you cut the linedef the texture will chop up too.

I recommend GZDoom Builder, as you can see the 3D platforms in visual mode, doom builder 2 doesn't do that i dont think, and its vital when you need to fine tune the position of your 3D floors.

Note in the example wad The dummy sectors (the triangles outside the map) correspond to the exact height of the platforms. You can change the height of the dummy sectors the change the platforms.
