I swear, we have this conversation every couple of months. The Koopalings are explicitly called Koopa's children in the Japanese SMB3 manual, but don't have names. They got their names from Nintendo of America.

Then, the official "narrative" (what little of one there is) got reset by the ending of SUper Mario Galaxy, which is when the Koopalings stop being his kids and are just merely his "top lieutenants.

They just retconned their relation to Bowser is all. Happens all the time in literally every other media; don't know why its so hard to understand for Mario games.
