Just about everything in the first world of SMW blew my mind, but most notable would be going up Kappa Mountain and being able to see the true scale of the game for the first time. SMW's overworld is an absolute fucking masterpiece, there's so much I love about it.
>beating Donut Ghost House and seeing the river emerge and connect to Donut Lake
>that sneak peak of Valley of Bowser you get by finding two secret exits in a row
>finding a star warp for the first time and getting whisked away to an interstellar bonus world
>all of the world themes are much more grounded and connect to each other in smart ways (ie the cloud world is now instead a bridge world with a mountain level, there's no out of place desert world, etc.)
>a whole fucking world of cave levels (in the same game with the best implementation of cave levels too since they often had lava or neat layouts)
>world 4 having most of its levels along a secret route you get to from world 3
>having to actually find the correct way out of the forest of illusion holy shit
>that crazy loop de loop path from chocolate island 2
>Valley of Bowser emerging from the ocean
>BACK DOOR
