If you want to do something with your life, it would be a shame you spent your time here being angry over nonsense like the above poster was mad about, calling game X overrated when the games they prefer are EXTREMELY proximal to X. Buy a notebook. Write down "What will it take to make me feel satisfied with myself and how do I get there?" and answer that question sincerely. Then take action. Don't just sit around and listlessly play games just to distract yourself. Enroll in a course for a skill you don't have. Make progress on your game and post it somewhere. There are agdg threads. You can also get a blogspot or whatever. Ask yourself this question, do you find yourself refreshing pages on games for "research" because you feel like your game "needs the best inspiration or else people won't care about it?"

An interesting question I recently asked myself is: "Would I care to constantly check in on video game forums/twitch streams if my game was already done and completed to my own standards?" and my personal answer to that question is "No" for the most part, but there are a handful of games I that I genuinely find fun (e.g. DoDonPachi). So technically, playing games is just a way for me to procrastinate and forever be trapped by the feeling of never having completed my game, which has wrecked my life in a lot of places. So yes. I want to be done with my game to have put an awesome game out there that people can like (similar to how I like DoDonPachi) and not really to make some political statement, inflate my narcissism, or get rich (but I don't plan on doing all this for free).

I also want to make a game. Here I am, writing this post instead of doing homework for a course I'm in.
