The Kimba vs Lion King thing gets misunderstood a lot. It wasn't exactly about Disney ripping off Osamu Tezuka -- there were some similarities in the setting and plot, true, but they were not extreme. The criticism was aimed more at Disney as corproration and their tendency to get litigious at the drop of a hat.

I mean, Tezuka estate didn't sue Disney, obviosuly. But imagine if it was Disney who had made The Lion King back in the 70s, and then some Japanese anime named Kimba the White Lion made mad bank in the 90s. There would be lawsuits up the ass.
