Jokes aside, I do believe back then people simply tolerated the "strong woman" protagonist because they literally got to control her; otherwise the general drive to ogle an obvious eye candy protagonist would have been more strongly at odds with the core pillowfort mentality that survives to this day.

Finally beat tr2 for the first time in like 20 years. Loved it. I've been playing 3 since around the same time, but I fired it up recently and it didn't interest me as much. I might just skip it and go to last revelation
