if you got PCI slots then a SATA controller + a $10 refurbished HDD made this century might actually be the best option. search for "syba sata raid" on ebay; i've had good results with that one. you MIGHT need to be able to set your boot device to "scsi" or "other" for it to be bootable though; if it won't give you options besides FDD / IDE0 / IDE1 then you might be outta luck.
