What about a Gamecube with a gameboy player accessory?

I don't think it was, despite even being one of the lowest selling Nintendo consoles next to Wii U and coming in third place that gen. GameCube appealed to kids (and obviously Nintendo fans) and the gaming landscape was a little different back then especially when you consider SEGA had been a contender right up until that point. If it were not for the Wii, then I would maybe say it was unsuccessful. As a whole though I will never forget playing Melee and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for hours on my GameCube or enjoying games like Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, and Animal Crossing. My cousin even had the Game Boy Player which expands its library tenfold. Compared to something like Saturn or Dreamcast I would not call the GameCube underrated or unsuccessful. It was still massively popular during its time, even if it wasn't close to PS2 or Xbox numbers.

How does the Game Boy Player generate GB/GBC audio, and output it digitally through the digital AV out?
I'm pretty sure the Game Boy's audio hardware is analogue by nature. Digitally composed and triggered, but the hardware itself (practically the instruments) are analogue.
Is it emulated and not real authentic audio like from an original Game Boy/GBC or a Super Game Boy?

Post comfy and forgotten vidya peripherals.

I really liked the GB Player. Combined with the Gamecube and I had a ton of vidya that I could play.

I remember playing FF Tactics, Metroid Fusion, and Golden Sun on it during the cold winter months while wrapped in a blanket. Comfy.

Been thinking about getting one of these since it is very easy to use without the startup disc. Are there any hiccups that should be noted with these?

Anyone here own the Gamecube component cables?

Lookin for some shots of Metroid: Zero Mission on GBA Player to decide if it's worth it. Also I'm not 100% with Nintendont on Wii U - It seems to assume 480p means I'm using a 16:9 ratio screen and I have to mess with the H/V size to get it to display normally, still feels like it adds a bit of blur.

( I really wish we could have our own board or at least a thread for /almost retro/ )

So is anyone following the progress of the Game Boy Interface?

http://www.gc-forever.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2782?utm=rc?postview=full

It's a homebrew software that aims to replace the native software of the Gamecube's Game Boy Player.
It outputs at 240p, reduces input lag, matches the game boy's refresh rate, outputs the correct RGB colors and it seems to support the SNES' Super Game Boy borders. Not to mention I won't have to deal with the Game Boy Player's dreaded bilinear filter scaling mode and the forced use of borders, even if they have a minimal black one (albeit not completely black).

What are your thoughts on it?
Does this have the potential to surpass the Super Game Boy adapter?
