Okay hear me out, the stick should be on top for this one. That way you could choose between a stick or D-pad depending on the game when in vertical mode. So right image would be ideal for DS games, while the swapped version of left would be better for arcade and wonderswan games that rotated the screen 90 degrees clockwise.
