Thought Astro Boy looked so dumb. But people said it was good, so I bought it and I fucking loved it.

It's crazy how many hidden gems there are on the GBA. Me and most of my friends just sort of used it as a Pokemon machine with occasional guest appearances by Zelda and Mario, and then maybe the budding hipster kid would be playing Kirby and WarioWare. A lot of great stuff flew totally under the radar. Pic extremely related.

Most disney stuff from Capcom and Sega. Most Warner stuff from Konami.

Also not retro but the best licensed game is Astro Boy Omega Factor

Can we all agree that this is the best GBA game? Also Harmony of Dissonance is best Castlevania.

Emulation of GBA is still emulation of a 6th gen system, so it's not /vr/. Sorry OP, anyway /v/ and /vg/ will be able to reccommend some if they're not too busy shitposting/tripfagging, and GBA is mainstream enough that you won't really have a hard time finding games for it, don't worry.

Any ever played Astro Boy OF.
I've seen that it's really expensive on ebay, around $30 but someone just offered me $10 for it.
Should I buy it?

I don't really know much about Radiant Silvergun, but Ikaruga, while really easy to get into and complete, is insanely tedious to optimize and the game gives you little to no incentive to do so unlike, say, Mars Matrix where the process of optimizing is both naturally enticing (DEM GOLD CUBES) and allows for multiple approaches to optimizing any given situation.

I mean sure different strokes for different folks, but you have to be insanely bored and/or have lots of time to kill if you want to be able to go on that route Treasure wants you to go on perfectly and get a high score.

tl;dr massively overrated, good beginner SHMUP to get your feet wet, but really only a good gateway into some better ones if that

Treasure makes gems out of every other genre they make though, one of my personal faves being Astro Boy Omega Factor. Combat system is engaging as fuck, the sprites are GORGEOUS, and there's a ridiculous amount of content and fanservice: probably the most well handled adaptation of any license I've ever seen.
