Soldering is easy. If you need practice go to a thrift store, buy something electronic, and then desolder then resolder it all back on. Make sure you use a multi meter to check for continuity. Something simple thats AV related like a manual RCA switch would be a good start.

It may just work. I bought an untested genesis on ebay and it booted up fine. I thought the video was borked for like a half hour until I realized that I was switched to the wrong input on my TV while I was testing the video and power cables on a known working unit.

Update on this. Still broken.
Does anyone know the reasons why a CPU or any other component on a SNES would just die?
