The greenhouse:
No botanical garden would be complete without a tropical greenhouse, and no such greenhouse would be complete without a display of giant water lilies. These lily pads measured about 1 meter across and are apparently buoyant enough to carry 50 kg of weight! In the foreground, you can see one of the pads which has been turned upside down...

Very nice. I've considered this approach too, but I lack a quality DSLR camera and the proper lighting setup. What equipment do you use? I think you captured the look of an actual gbp LCD quite nicely. I've also noticed the glare, I'd try to make the lighting setup as well as the positioning of the gb and the camera as consistent as possible. If you keep the display as level and in-plane as possible, you can simply crop out the circuitry around it to get a simple, clean image of just the display.
