I just beat and played it for the first time. Enjoyed it quite a bit but probably not a game I'll ever play again. It laid so much of the groundwork for what immersive sims would become that it still feels relatively "modern" despite the point and click interface. Crazy for 1994.

Play the enhanced edition and get the mod that syncs the dialogue text up with the speech audio. By default it uses a different script from the floppy disk version, which is fucking stupid.

Levels are absolute mazes but you get a mini-map so it's usually fine. Everytime you destroy a set of computer nodes, write down the number that appears on a black screen in the room and what level you're on. You'll thank me later.

Riot gun is fucking useless. Make sure you use the right ammo for organic enemies vs robotic ones or else you'll be wasting bullets. Teflon for for bots, hollow points for monsters for example.

Cyberspace can be a fucking chore to explore but once you understand the controls its pretty straightforward.

In general the game can be fucking merciless with how little it tells you on what the next objective is. Even if you have all the right audio logs and emails you'll still be going WTF on how to accomplish what they're hinting at. Just explore much of the floor as you can, really think your hardest, give up and check this very hands-off guide:

No, but it's a pretty good, if very uneven and unfinished horror FPS. Strangely over-rated by Reddit-types who probably only watched a YouTube video on it. Thief 1&2 and Deus Ex are much better games.

I don't mind them, haven't been let down by any of their remasters yet. I have very mixed feelings on the new lighting engine in Turok 2 and Shadow Man or the new character models in the upcoming System Shock 2 remaster. It can all be a bit gaudy and unnecessary at times, but I am glad they always give you the option to play the game as it originally looked. The pricing is usually very sensible but I don't appreciate how something like the original Steam version of Shadow Man is completely replaced on the store when the NightDive versoin came out.

I'm working on a introduction guide to SS2 at the moment and waiting on that new version to come out. From what we've seen I'll probably be telling zoomers to turn the new models off, they look a bit odd. Here's the Deus Ex one I did if anyone is interested:
