Why does this console in all its incarnations have such abysmal build quality? I own three and all of them have trouble reading discs and the disc assembly is loud as fuck.

I have an original PS1 console and I found some blank CDs I want to bring some games onto as the PlayStations laser is worn out and can only be games that have very few to no scratches I could play the games on my PS1 classic but I don't want to get a converter box to play them on my CRT TV what games would you recommend

i found my old modded psx at my parents house and decided to try it out. All my games have been lost so I have no way of verifying it still works. I downloaded a crash bin file but it didnt work in the console. goes straight to memory card/cd player screen. The way i used to do it was by renting at blockbuster and copying

Is it just mean or is it impossible to get a game to properly run on this thing? Are all my games fucked or is my system fucked? Or is it just that time where CDs are all just fucked. I’ve heard PS1s can have problems with reading discs so it could be my system
