Sure the game technicaly works without it but if you knew anything about Troika you'd know they were shit at bug fixing and QA. So why would you not use a bugfix patch that rectifies most of those issues?

Yeah, Running From Evil gets really old, really fast. I also kind of hate that same boring old brown sky as well.

If any of you ever make a single map .wad for Doom 2, please, PLEASE consider replacing the D_RUNNIN and SKY_1 with just anything else, it can be a track from later in Doom 2, it can be a track from Doom 1, it can be a TNT track, anything but D_RUNNIN, hell, steal a track from Duke Nukem 3D, the Sky can be changed likewise, these two few things do so much to change the atmosphere of a level and I think it's absolutely worth the little time it takes.
