I wonder why ID never tried to bring some of the demons from Wolf3D in Doom. There's a boss calleDevil Incarnate.

I think that's exactly what happened. They must have realized Wolfenstein 3D was nearing its expiration date, and wanted to milk the franchise for all it was still worth.

Honestly I'd be surprised if they spent longer than a week on it.

And then here's Formgen's take on the same boss.

Notice how speckly and textured its arm looks?

Which is fine, but then, notice how NOT textured its hands and feet look? It's like they gave up halfway through. Which pretty much sums up the whole experience.

Wolfenstein Spear of Destiny: Great game. But holy fuck, stay away from Formgen's expansion packs.
