I think the game had sort of an affection system hidden inside of it and at the end of the game, Mae or Tao would say something that they're in love with Max if their points are high enough. Pure speculation though
Fun picture... 30 years later and we now have centaur doujins or pic related. I miss when games had anthropormorphic creatures like that.
