At least with the 6th generation, an argument can be made that it was just a technical evolution of the 5th generation. The mentality was mostly the same and the games industry wasn't radically different than that of the 5th other than better hardware. This is definitely not true about the 7th gen and really you can think of the 7th gen as the true beginning of modern gaming, while the 6th gen was the last truly retro generation. Even if it is almost retro in terms of age, it will never be retro in terms of actual game design, the state of the industry at the time and so on and so forth. The people that wanted to gate keep the 6th gen from /vr/ are retarded since they allowed the Dreamcast which was a literal 6th gen machine and PS2,Xbox and Gamecube games aren't that much different than it, but they are right in saying that the Xbox 360, PS3 and the Wii really will never be retro.
