Still the greatest horror game I've ever played. Still the only horror game that genuinely scared the shit out of me. The horrible slow control just makes it scarier. The ridiculous shit you could do (getting the record player and the Danube Waltz record and playing it while kicking the immortal rats in the wine cellar) still makes me smile. Still the single best interactive interpretation of Lovecraft I've ever played.

Alone In The Dark.

Not only it pretty much invented survival horror as we knew it until the PS2 era, but it was also the first to come up with using 3D models within 2D pre-rendered backgrounds. This technique was a revolution and used during more than a decade, and not just for survival horror. Think of how even games like FF7/8/9 use it, and it's all owed to AITD.

I really feel like this game is awfully ignored.

Isn't it the scariest retrogame to this day? I can play all REs and SH fine, but this is just so eerie.

Also, I can't find infos about its development, cut content, trivias or anything. How do I even explore the content of its PAK files.
