I'm interested in getting into the Lunar series. Which version of Silver Star Story should I play? Pic related seems like a good start.

So choosing between Lunar on the Sega CD or PlayStation/Saturn is down to aesthetic preference? The Sega CD version has a cleaner style than the later version, but the PS/SS version has really nice detail work.
Are the un-working design patches really mandatory to enjoy the games?

By the time I finally tracked this one down I realized I wasn't a weeaboo anymore. At the time it came out I was a raging early weeb and would have loved the shit out of it. By 2002 when I finally played it, anime had lost its shine for me.
