/vr/ - Retro Games

This game is heralded as the best RE and even one of the greatest games of all time, but that is just flat out wrong. The puzzles are almost always contained in one room and are braindead to figure out most of the time (the library bookcases, the ada/sherry block puzzle, the sewer medals just to name a few), the enemies are mostly reskinned/used from re1, the bosses are even lamer (the only one that stood out to me was the gator) and lastly the game is incredibly short. Re1 had much more clever puzzles and scarier atmosphere and re4 was much longer and felt more epic, they deserve their praise much more. This game is undercooked and half-baked.

Since it looks like the remake will come out after HL3 I think it's time for us to share experiences in playing this masterpiece

I'm trying to emulate Resident Evil 2 on ePSXe but the anytime there is a cutscene that isn't a FMV and a sound clip is played for more than 2 seconds it all just cuts out until the next person speaks. Music stays unaffected, but all speech and some ambient or background noises like a gunshot or bang are cut out as well. I've tried changing a lot of the sound settings but I haven't found anything that works yet. I have the eternal SPU sound plugin and P.E.Op.S. DSound.

I really want to play this game.

I've only played Resident Evil 2 once or twice in the past, just bought it again and I'm considering playing it tonight.

PAL artwork is the coolest
