480p is underrated in my opinion from an artistic perspective. It's grainy enough that you can still see the pixels, yet detailed enough to avoid pic related. For me it's the perfect middle ground.

I thought Agahnim's jewel was a mouth. Somehow completely missed the face underneath it. Doesn't help that his circlet goes around far enough on the sprite that it looks like it could be ears.

Later on, Pokey from Earthbound would have an extremely appearance that was intended to be 100% that, which only compounded my belief. I didn't find out the circlet/mouth was part of some kind of giant turban until over a decade later.

Easy sperglord, it's not like I made the image. The color scheme in that particular sprite draws your attention to the top of his head because it's brighter and bigger than his actual face. Always knew what was intended.

Remember, The Simpsons was something he thought up while waiting to pitch "his idea" ... which originally was a TV series of Life in Hell. He quickly sketched out a parody family of his own (Homer, Margaret, Matt, Lisa and Maggie Groening) because he didn't want to lose copyright of his comic. He never could have known how some talented people would have turned his mediocre idea into something briefly incredible.
