/vr/ - Retro Games

Bumping this. I recently moved to an area that has an arcade with nearly 400 machines. All of them are set to freeplay too. You just pay $15 at the door. It's like paradise.

What's your favorite arcade game, /vr/?

Lots of us like Arcade Games. Back in the day though, because of their very nature and possibly other potential factors (not reading up on them, being distracted by other things, lack of internet availability, etc.), it wasn't always easy to find out about them.

This is what I'm curious about. How many of your favorite arcade games did you actually FIRST find out about by seeing them in public as opposed to reading about them ahead of time or playing a port first?

You don't have to be super-detailed, and if you can't remember the exact place or name, a general idea is fine. Year is also unnecessary (unless it was important to you, then go ahead). No need to strain yourself. Also, unless you feel it necessary, you don't need to list games you found at the same place but you didn't like. I'll be posting my finds in my next post.

there was an arcade game in the late 90's i cant remember the name, all i remember it was a side scroller shooter very similar to metal slug, the character is a cool looking guy with sunglasses he has a gun theres lots of power ups the i remember the first boss is a cartoon looking tower it slams the ground and the waves hurts sth like that, does anyone knows the name of the game??

Going to try to use Kickstarter to start an arcade in my local area.

Trying to figure out how much it would actually cost, and throwing up a 4chan thread to keep my thoughts straight/get advice from fellow purveyors of the old games.

I work at an arcade and do machine work there.

I'm thinking about designing an arcade machine or a pinball. I've got plenty of empty cabinets, hardware, and coding experience, but sorely lacking on gameplay ideas.

What would absolutely rake in the quarters?
