As a kid I felt like this was the real deal and the GBA was just like the mainstream one. I wanted it so bad.

I have no idea but neogeo pocket color is pure soul. this and dreamcast were supposed to be what modern gaming was, but it was ruined

I remember the pocket color commercials. So stylish, so cool looking. Exotic, hip, cool. Used to go to the anime/collectibles story and just eyeball it behind glass cause it was too expensive. Would steal a Transformers toy or manga every now and again because I was a bad seed.

This thing seemed to be the holy grail to me back in the day

Without a doubt, the most aesthetically pleasing handheld of all times. I remember seeing commercials for it at night on TV, thinking "now that's what a real gamer would have", then I remember finally seeing one at an anime shop and it cost like 20000 dollars so I couldn't ever have it, and nobody ever did, it just sat there behind the glass taunting.

I don't see the appeal in playing a gameboy now, it was so common I'd rather emulate. I could however see the appeal in having one of these physically. Basically your own little handheld gaming experience in your pocket.
