Tim Follin is a similar case. He usually put maximum effort into his compositions. Very often he even managed to do highly innovative and experimental stuff with the SID (or other 8-bit sound chips) that none other could do with the C64 or NES.

But he did this not for AAA-Titles or even B-Games, he made absolutely stunning music for literally shovelware games and rubbish ports on the 8-Bit and 16-bit machines. Yeah sometimes he managed to get his music into better games and ports too but overall some of the games are weird.
