Can we get a thread about the last/greatest 8-bit console, and the best handheld console to date?

TL;DR below: I want to get into the console so discuss games n shit

I feel like I want to get into its library of games, as I've kind of overlooked it over the years. I just love how its games are designed in a way so that you can play them for like 10 min per session and still be satisfied. I also love consoles like these where developers actually had to work around the limitations of the console and that you couldn't just make whatever you felt like and it forced people to be creative when making their games.

Anyways, I'm already playing LoZ: LADX and am getting into Shantae, and want to get into Pokemon Gold, but it seems like such a huge game that just starting off just seems rather intimidating especially when you've never played it as a kid (could I possibly get some recs for some simpler RPGs on the system that don't require that much time invested into it in comparison?). Even with this being said I've feel like I haven't even touched the surface of getting into the really worthwhile games for the console.

But yeah, GB/GBC thread I guess (I don't know how to start threads or end my posts).

Alright /vr/, I need your guys honest opinions.

I have both an original DMG Gameboy and an extra Gameboy Color, and lately I've wanted to modify one to make it comfier to play. This would require several modifications...

I'm talking about frontlit/backlit screens, replacing buttons to something more comfortable, possible rechargeable batteries, and maybe even a paint job.

The Gameboy Color works fine and has no problems with it. The DMG Gameboy however has a broken speaker (headphone jack still works) and a dent in the screen lens/protector.

Which one should I mod, or should I even mod them? Opinions?

Also, before you suggest an SP, I had one when I was younger and didn't like how the games stuck out and the lack of a headphone jack. I would also presume it would cramp my hands after extended periods of play.
