Yes, and no.
The levels can sometimes be pretty drawn out, but environments are much more distinct and varied than in Wolf3D.

It's a real fun game overall, and, as much as it pains me to say it, having grown up with Wolfenstein 3D as a childhood favorite, Rise Of The Triad basically does everything that Wolfenstein 3D does, but better in practically every way, to the point that if you're playing ROTT, it's hard to justify to yourself to then go and play Wolf3D, because it's similar, but also so incredibly bland in comparison, for just the gameplay.
It's like going from Simcity 2000 to the first Simcity, it's not bad, there's some value to be had there if you do decide to play it, but MAN, the other one is so much better that it's not even funny.

And as the other guy says, the music is just excellent.

So I'm really interested in Rise Of The Triad lately, I'm wondering if there's any decent sourceports, what I'd be looking for is:

>joystick and mouse support at the same time
>being able to run in 800x640
>freelook (optional)
>if it's an OpenGL port, to be able to turn off any potential bilinear or trilinear filtering

I'd probably also like to play the remake, but after I play the original game.
