try booting up some linux distro and do a mksquashs -comp xz on those ps2 images
I haven't started playing ps2 yet, once I start I will definitely be using the same tools,

I used to just compress everything in gunzip, which pcsx2 can load, but it does not compress well.
And i bet that dwarfs can compress even better, discovered it recently and it is starting to become my favorite mountable archiver

I checked with duckstation some years ago and it didn't support encoded audio, I haven't bothered asking them about it tho.
