It's pretty cool.
It can get annoying in the jump puzzles because of the new more realistic physics and the shitty checkpoint system.
But other than that, You will likely enjoy it if you're a fan of the original. In my opnion they ironed out many of the original game's flaws, and also made the enemies more challenging.
I think they also improved the bosses. Most of them were pretty easy in the original(with exception of the NME, fuck that thing), but all of them need a certain strategy to be defeated now.

On a side note, is there any decent custom map for the original game?
I swear to god ALL of the user maps that I've played suck major ass.
