So as it turns out quake's 2nd expansion Dissolution of Eternity has an unused fully functional grappling hook present in the games files, I activated accidentally due to shitty coding because I'm a novice. Thought it was worth mentioning as this isn't mentioned on the wiki or on the tcrf, not even a google search yielded any info.
