The problem isn't that they're not multicolored (they are), it's the way they designed their body. Sure you can do less boxy and more human-like limbs (they already did that with power-armors in metal-hero toku shows and stuff like Sonic soldier Borgman among other) but the torso is kinda messy, and the pose is more akin to the bad guy than the good guy (looks more like a beast).
Remember that in the 80s toys manufacturers already released less-conventional/weirder mech designs as plastic models (the various mechs from Five Star Stories or Dragon's Heaven).

I don't dislike it, but it ain't that good imo compared to many other mech designs, even less "kiddie" ones.
