I think it's because not many people can get into Wolf3D without the nostalgia factor.
The engine is limited for an FPS and there are too few enemies compared to later FPS games(hell, even compared to some other Wolf3D engine games). While that does have it's charm, it's not for everyone. I love Wolf 3d, but even I get flustered with some of it's flaws(maily the lack of a map, since this game is literally a maze).
Also, Blake Stone is god tier.
