That's got me curious: do we know any other SegaCD games that specifically uses the CD addon's RICOH pcm chip instead of relying on redbook audio?

I assume it was mostly used for sound effects but if there's full soundtracks I'd like to hear them. SCD's Past tracks have their own unique sound, different from the typical FM synth we got from the Genny. I feel like maybe Snatcher or Lunar 2 probably do.

Is the Sega CD/Mega CD region free? I only have a US Genesis but I like the look of the Japanese Mega CD more than the US version. Will a JP Mega CD work with a US Genesis?

Okay... So I got something I've been wanting for a long time. I got a Model 1 Mega CD to match my 1988 VA0 Mega Drive. I bought it as "Junk" from a seller in Japan for a good price. Takes three weeks but it gets here.
I plug it in. Bios Boots Up. Yay, Disc Tray rumbles and doesn't move. Boo... So I open it up. Wow this thing is weird just like the Mega Drive compared to our US Systems. I get it apart and take off the Drive Belt. Soak it in boiling water in a Styrofoam cup for about five minuets. Then toss it in a bowl of ice water for about ten. Seems a little better than before. I start looking at the system and realize the spindle arm really doesn't want to raise in the system. In fact the Worm Gear thing just won't budge it. Gently work the two until the arm raises and lowers by turning the gear. I reassembled the mechanism with the big black teethed gear's curved notch pointing out the door when the tray's completely extended. That seemed to be how it looks on the US Model at least. Replaced the Belt with the now slightly better original belt and put it all back together. Now the Tray works 95% of the time. YAY
Now... I have ONE Japanese Mega CD game and a few US Sega CD Games and a V2 Mega EverDrive and a bunch of Burned Sega CD games that work perfectly on my Model 2 Sega CD.
Most* of the time when I put in the Japanese Mega CD game I have which is some F1 racing game. The Mega CD sees it. Plays it like an Audio CD just fine. And then I start the game it complains about the system Ram because I'm sure the battery is dead. Pass that and I'm playing the game. Wow, alright. Does this fucking thing actually work? Toss in a Burned Japanese Mega CD Game that has the region left alone that I've used on my Genesis/SegaCD2 with a Jap Bios on my V2M.EverDrive. No DICE... Nothing. Refuses to acknowledge its existence. Try this with thee different brands of CD-R that I've used with the Sega CD2. Sony, Verbatim, and HP lightscribe. Nothing.
