>the buttmad boomers here would rather have a dead board than discuss 20 year old machines
The dreamcast isn't even 20 years old.

I support either outright removing the Dreamcast, or involving ALL 6th generation consoles. I think it would be a nice addition, and I would support either notion 100%. Dream cast is no more retro then Ps2 or Gc.

6th gen is coming up quickly on 20 years old, and they have no place in /v/. Hell, the first time I talked about Xbox in /v/ they told me to come here and discuss it. I suggested a separate board for contemporary, but unsupported consoles, and that was deleted too.

>I have hundreds of controllers
This

Of what I have hooked up right now:

>pc
I use either a Steam Controller or a wired 360 controller. I have grown to appreciate the Steam controller for 3rd person titles like Dark Souls. It takes some tweaking to get the Steam hardware to work the way you want, but it allows for some pretty impressive customization. I use a wired M$ Sidewinder mouse that I have had since It came out. It was and still is an impressive mouse.

>PSX:
I prefer the basic no-rumble-no-analog stick. Very few games use the stick in a way that I like, and I hate the layout.

>N64
There is no choice other then the OEM.

>Xbox (2001 version)
The "Duke". No questions asked. They should have never discontinued that model.

>Wii
I use my wii for emulation. I have quite a few gold, black and white Classic controller Pros. I have a few SNES mini controllers that work great for the snes emulation. For NES emulation, I have 7 or 8 wiimotes. I am ok with the 2 button layout, and I don't do a whole lot of NES games, so having the "authentic" feel controller don't effect me.

I buy controllers in bulk. I have kids, and when they were younger they simply destroy controllers. They don't try it, but they also won't tell you when one stops working, and will find another. They will accidentally drop them over and over until buttons are flying out of them. Somehow they wear out the rubber on control sticks, which I have never seen done by any adult. Last year I replaced 4 xbox controllers, and a few wii motes. I don't get mad, but I buy a few, and a "lot" of broken controllers and cobble things together. It took years to get to that point, and I just put it in my "inbox" for work or replacement.

I always take a controller apart when I get one used. I clean and sterilize every part of it. Its worth it to get cat hair and worse out of them.

>$60 bucks a pop can amount to a lot, especially if you live in a place where tech is expensive (my case)
I used to keep my backup on a 1tb external drive. It failed last year totally. I lost a lot of free software that has vanished from the net. It was nearly full of all sorts of things for windows 2000-windows 10. I decided I would never let that happen again.

I found a pair of no hdd mini business pcs for $80 shipped. I ordered a pair of 2tb hdd for $100. Eventually ordered 2 more 2tb. Running a 1+0 setup for NAS storage was the best decision I have ever made. Fears of catastrophic failures are much reduced by disc redundancy. I have a bit less then 4tb of storage, and I am ok with that for now. Most think this is low, but this is quite a bit for the way my family uses pcs. We don't do most media including movies or music. I am a player, not a preservationist. If a game is objectively garbage to me, I ignore it. I realize that others may feel different and I respect their opinions on the matter all the same. Bebe's kids for SNES is not worth my disc space. I do buy hardware for fun and profit however.

Also, the NAS works best when you are on a hardwired network...but I also have a shitty wireless card. It could be better with a good wifi card, but I don't know. My whole house is wired for high speed ethernet.

>That's very mean and nasty.
If you are offended by the term "tranny" you may not have a good time with life. The term "tranny" is reserved for members of the 45% club. If you are offended, it is because you are in the club.
