I've played tons of co-op games with a friend on NES, my favourite being:
Double Dragon 2
Chip'n'Dales
Shadow Of The Ninja
Snow Bros
Jackal
Contra
Super C
Heavy Barrel
S.C.A.T

For non co-op multiplayer Super Off Road is pretty good. Can be played up till 4 players.
Nightmare on Elm Street can be played up to 4 players too and it's actually not bad. Definitely meant to be played in multiplayer as alone some bosses later on get really hard.
