I agree that it isn't quite so pulse-pounding as some of the NES titles', but you need to realize that (don't quote me exactly, but I'm pretty sure) there were different composers for just about every game in the Classic series. Each one has its own style. MM&B's is slower, as you said, but there are definitely some memorable themes in MMM&B. Dynamo Man, Ground Man, and Magic Man are three of my favorite Robot Master stage themes.

Loved them both, and their soundtracks. I feel 10 is underrated as an OST and a whole, partially because 9 hit every mark and became a tough act to follow.
